Alliance Pointe, LLC Acquires HUBZone Status
Washington, DC, March 4th, 2015: Alliance Pointe, LLC, a Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) management consulting firm for federal government organizations adds another Business Standard Certification – “Historically Underutilized Business Zones” (HUBZone) Certification.
The HUBZone program, enacted into law as part of the Small Business Reauthorization Act of 1997, helps small businesses in urban and rural communities gain preferential access to federal contracting opportunities. It encourages economic development in historically underutilized business zones, “HUBZones”.
The federal government has a goal of awarding 3% of all dollars for federal prime contracts to HUBZone certified small business concerns. By becoming a HUBZone certified business in addition to already being a WOSB, Alliance Pointe increases its opportunities and potential to successfully compete in the federal sector.
As a HUBZone certified small business, Alliance Pointe may be granted sole source contracts for the fulfillment of government consultancy services. According to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR); Subpart 19.1306, “A participating agency contracting officer may award contracts to HUBZone small business concerns on a sole source basis without considering small business set-asides.”
Furthermore, Alliance Pointe will now maintain a 10% price evaluation preference over proposals from non-HUBzone/non-small businesses. According to SBA.gov (FAR-Subpart 19.1305), “A full and open competition contract can be awarded with a price evaluation preference. The offer of the HUBZone small business will be considered lower than the offer of a non-HUBZone/non-small business providing that the offer of the HUBZone small business is not more than 10 percent higher.”
